New Hampshire

New Hampshire is known for its natural resources, including mountains, forests, lakes, and shorelines.

The White Mountains area is popular for outdoor activities. Mount Monadnock is one of the most climbed mountains in the U.S.

Located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, Mount Washington (6,288.2 feet) is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States.

Mount Washington is famous for its erratic weather. On the afternoon of April 12, 1934, the Mount Washington Observatory recorded a windspeed of 231 miles per hour.

In February 2024, a weather station at the summit of Mount Washington recorded an air temperature of -45° and a wind chill of -106°, setting a new U.S. windchill record.

The New Hampshire state park system includes 93 locations with beaches, campgrounds, historic sites, waysides, natural areas, trails, and other properties.

The state is home to one of the most extensive networks of cross-country ski trails in the East.

Located near Mount Liberty in Franconia Notch State Park, the Flume Gorge is one of the state's most popular natural attractions.

New Hampshire is known as the Granite State.
